Mazda Hybrid
After having excited consumers with hints of a
Mazda Tribute Hybrid, it seems that Mazda has decided not to adopt
the hybrid power train of the Ford Escape hybrid, the Tribute's
"parent."
Mazda however has proven its dedication to alternative
fuel vehicles, and has even designed dual fuel engines. In late
2003, Mazda unveiled a gasoline-hydrogen version of their infamous
RENESIS rotary engine at a Tokyo Motor Show. At similar shows Mazda
also showed the world an Electric Motor Assist turbocharger and
the Mazda Hybrid System.
The RX-8 would be the first to benefit from this
hybrid technology, and a gasoline-hydrogen version of the RX-8 Hydrogen
RE is currently being tested for production.
