Two Seaters

The only two seater hybrid available for purchase is the Honda Insight. It has recently been positioned as one of the most affordable hybrid cars available for sale, prices under $20,000. The Insight is an extremely eco-friendly car, but its main function is to provide high fuel economy. It has met this goal with success, as the Insight has been awarded the highest EPA rated fuel economy of any passenger automobile available on the market, since its introduction.

Compact Cars

Both the Honda Civic Hybrid and first generation Toyota Prius fall under the compact car category. The Honda Civic Hybrid is noted for bringing hybrid-electric technology to a mainstream, top-selling vehicle, and was the first hybrid vehicle to achieve Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle status under California's Zero Emission Vehicle program. The Civic is a mild hybrid while the Prius is a full hybrid, the difference being that Civic Hybrid is not capable of driving solely on its electric motor.

Midsize Cars

The new Honda Accord IMA and the second generation Toyota Prius are the only hybrids available in this class. The Accord uses hybrid technology to add both power and fuel efficiency, while the Prius focuses solely on fuel economy and reduction in greenhouse gases.
